It's all grades and test scoresMar 12 2016Business - Management and Administration
It's all grades and test scores. Test scores help in the college rankings game and Fordham is all about the rankings. There is no loyalty given to applicants whose entire family has gone to Fordham. One here I learned that the admissions staff knows what SAT scores are needed to improve ranking and no matter what you did in HS, if your SAT is even 10 points below, you won't get in.

Fordham is very big on extracurriculars and community involvementAug 12 2015Biology
Fordham is very big on extracurriculars and community involvement. They will overlook mediocre grades if you have outstanding community service/ school involvement, and have a great essay. Almost everyone I met at Fordham used to be the student body president of their school and was super involved in the community or school. I had a gpa of 3.4, mediocre SAT score of 1710, but I was in the top 10% of my class, student body president, I went on a humanitarian trip to Africa for the summer between my junior and senior year and wrote my essay about it. I applied to their pre-med program and got in with flying colors. You don't have to be the best student, you just have to be involved. I never visited the school or contacted the admissions office (although those are all things you should do as well).

Apply early action if you have the grades toMar 28 2015Psychology
Apply early action if you have the grades to do so (it's better to figure this out with your college counselor though). Fordham students on average were A- students in high school who scored somewhere from 1800-2400 on their SATs. Being from a Jesuit high school definitely helps, and anything leadership/volunteer oriented extra-curricular wise will be of help to those who want to get in.

For me, Fordham University was basically a safetyFeb 20 2015Communications
For me, Fordham University was basically a safety. Although most applicants are around my SAT scores, my GPA was higher than the average applicant at a 3.9, with many AP classes in addition. However, Fordham has a high acceptance rate so if you have decent SAT scores, a good GPA, and a well written essay, you will be accepted. I didn't receive any scholarship money until April, close to the time that you need to decide on a school. They gave me a decent amount of money which in the end convinced me to go here instead of other expensive schools. So hold on deciding because Fordham might offer you money. Although it may not be a top school for you, it is still a great university and you can succeed and do well here.

I got an email that my application fee would be waived, so I thought why the heck not. This school really values community work and leadership, so if you've got that you're golden.
